Dining With Sinners

We met Michael Carpenter about a year ago at one of our “About Europe” mini-conferences in Nashville, TN. He had just launched Matthew’s Table, his church plant in nearby Lebanon. Since then, we’ve gotten to know Michael and watched with great interest as Matthew’s Table has consistently made deliberate decisions to take a missional approach to ministry. Michael joined us on the Upstream Jet Set Trip to Rome and Marseille last Spring. In case you missed it, check out  this video of Ed Stetzer’s interview with him.

Michael and Co. opened a coffee shop (the only one in Lebanon at the time) to pay the bills and provide a presence in the community. Matthew’s Table meets there throughout the week, and people from the community stream in and out every day.

Michael hosted our About Europe meeting this week at The Journey Church in Lebanon. It was also great to meet Gary Morgan, pastor of Mosaic, Nashville.

Over at his blog, Almost an M shares his perspective this most recent stop of the Upstream Fall Tour.
