The countdown has begun. You’re busy packing suitcases, buying tiny toiletries, and loading music onto your iPod. When you’ve weighed your check-in bag and printed your boarding passes, you may be tempted to consider yourself ready for takeoff.
Perhaps the most essential element of preparing for a trip like this is spiritual preparedness. Despite the beauty of the land and the kindness of the people, a trip like this is fraught with spiritual danger. When you’re hot and tired and in a place that is strange to you, you’re not in the best position to wade into the unseen perils of principalities and powers. Going unprepared is irresponsible if you know what you’re up against, but it’s downright stupid when you don’t have a clue.
As we set out on this journey, let us commit to prayer- for protection, guidance, perspective, wisdom, sensitivity, understanding, humility, and joy. As we pack the necessities, let’s not forget the faith, truth, word, and spirit.
Oh, and bug spray. Don’t forget the bug spray.

Hello-
Looking forward to your visit to Asia. Let me help with a few points.
The coffee here is good. There are too many Starbucks to count and local coffee joints abound….fear not. And if you like to experiment, a black pearl milk tea will keep your motor revved for quite some time.
90 degrees and monsoony? I advise loose-fitting, light clothes, and don’t forget the talcum powder. You’ll understand when you get here.
Be careful as you travel and God bless,
Jeff
